RITA LILLIAN (PLANTE) DENOMME

DENOMME, RITA L. (PLANTE), age 96, of Elyria, Ohio, and formerly of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026 in her home. She was born on October 19, 1929, in Providence, Rhode Island, and has been a resident of Elyria since 2019.

She spent her life as a devoted registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Rhode Island, retiring when she was 62 years old. Rita was a member of St. Peter Church and formerly of Christ the King Church, and was involved in the Humane Society and RNC. In her spare time, Rita enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and growing in her devotion to Mary.

Rita is survived by sons Roland (Christine) Denomme, Michael (Jeanne) Denomme, Peter (Kimberly) Denomme, Paul (Emily Denomme), daughters Ann Marie (Robin Robinson) Word, Arlene Denomme, Alice Gobeille, Annette McKay, twenty-one grandchildren, forty-eight great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Eugene R. Denomme, daughter Claire Denomme, grandson Stephen Denomme, parents Wilfred and Lucie Plante, son-in-laws William B. Word III and Dale W. Gobeille, and siblings William “Willie” Plante, Bella Young, Sister Lauretta Mary Wilfred, Ernest Plante, Albert Plante, Beatrice Bergeron, Doris Charnicki, Lionel Plante, Delphis Plante, Maurice Plante, and Theresa Albertini.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 9:45 am from the Iannotti Funeral Home at MAPLE ROOT, 2000 Nooseneck Hill Rd. (Rte.3) Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Christ the King Church, West Warwick. Interment at Saint Joseph Cemetery in West Greenwich will be private.
